Allie’s class visits the Poultry Farm

Allie’s class visited the U of I poultry farm today. Ryan and I had suggested it to her teachers and thought we would come along, too. But Allie told me this morning, “I want to go by myself and be brave on my own.” How can you deny that? Our friend Pam sent along these pictures of the visit.

Chicken Noodle Day and Day Christmas

This year we made our (what is becoming an annual) trek to Grandma and Grandpa’s to celebrate the new year. Fun included dinner out for Mommy and Daddy with Nate, Erin, Jeff and Melinda, watching Oregon win the Rose Bowl, playing with cousins and eating lots of yummy food that Grandma made. But it was not fun when Mommy fell down the back stairs carrying Josh and ended up breaking his leg–just a hairline fracture but it was slow to heal. It dominated our January.

A few weeks later, we headed back to Noblesville to celebrate Christmas and Eric and Amy were in town. Again, things are always fun at Grandma’s house but made extra fun with presents and another aunt and uncle in the mix.

Shake it off!

Many of our pictures and videos get taken at the dinner table. We are all together and just enjoying our time as a family.

One funny thing that Josh is doing these days is “Shake it off!” If you put something over his head, he will vigorously shake it to get it off. Funny boy.

Taking out our new bikes for a spin

Santa brought Allie a new, big-girl bike–complete with bell! And he brought Josh a trike with a handy strap to hold him on the seat and a handle so that mommy and daddy can push and steer. It has been so warm lately that the day after Christmas, we were able to get outside and try them out.

Dilger Christmas

26

We traveled during naptime on Christmas to the Dilgers. It was a great drive with Josh sleeping more than 3 hours, Allie more than 2 and Mommy getting a nap in, too. It was great to see Alex, Jaime and Case. Case is getting so big and crawls very very fast. Opening presents was a little chaotic and at times slow as you can see below.

We had some time to play on the 26th before heading back and Allie and Josh had a great time with Papa and enjoyed Nana’s treadmill, too.

Christmas Eve 2011

24

We had a low-key Christmas Eve. We spent a lot of the day in comfy clothes. For lunch, Ryan and I tried our hand at homemade sushi. It was yummy but the kids preferred leftover pizza. We headed to church at 3:30 for Christmas Eve service, but the church was crowded and Josh wasn’t feeling well so we didn’t make it through the whole service. We did get to sing some Christmas carols though and that is always nice. After church, we decorated cookies for Santa, had a good dinner and then headed off to bed.
